I watched the movie again last nite, for the teens times… still I enjoy it. And again my fave part is when George makes everybody ’round the table singing

Shop ’till you drop

Yup, I just made my new record in shopping madness, no sleep overnight during the rushy crazy Black Friday event at San Marcos. Unbelievable, so many people (and surely I was included) queued before midnite waiting for the shops’ door to open exactly at 12 am. The huge yet full parking area was in hectic, many cars awaited for other cars to leave and therefore causing traffic jam.

The insanity was for one particular reason, branded items on sale – almost in the everyday regular prices of non-brands or could be even cheaper. The offers ended at 8 am in the morning, that’s why I had no sleep wandering around the giant mall. Kids and daddy slept in the car, oh dear sorry about that

I think it compensates the cancelled (or postponed) previously planned trips either to Las Vegas or Big Bend – fun wise and money wise ha ha ha

Black Friday

Black Friday makes me busy, searching for the best deals offered that particular day. For those who unfamiliar with Black Friday, it is the Friday after Thanksgiving day when all shops offer generous discounts on their stuffs. Well, people are crazy about discount, they can stand queing all night long to get the first opportunity to grab the stuff they want.

Sometimes the question is whether it is worth. Umm, perhaps if you asked them – they will say it is not only about money – but the satisfaction of getting the stuff which others are craving to.

For me, it is purely intended to get particular items I need in lower price. It is therefore important to make a wishlist – to prevent myself from buying things I don’t really need – as what I did today

English course

Yup I am taking an english course for many reasons, first of all I don’t have to pay it, second – I always feel inferior with my english and third – there is always a room for improvement. Though to tell you the truth I would prefer a Spanish course, so that I can communicate properly with the cleaning service maids instead of using Tarzan language. However, looking back to the days I tried to learn Deutsch – it turned out that I basically have no talent (nor patience) with languages. So let’s forget about it – have my english improved a bit is already such a big achievement.

It is easy to blame the local dialects (or the other person as the one who has insufficient english) when I have difficulties in understanding or making myself understood. Once in Scotland I visited an old man’s house for the purpose of interviewing, blabbing for 5 minutes to explain why I came just to get a response which sounds like – I don’t understand what you are talking about. Geee is it that bad (?), I did actually speak very slowly and as clear as I can. And most importantly, I spoke English and not Bahasa!!

Anyway, I recognize that what I need (in order to speak better English or shall I say American or Texan) is going out and meeting with the people, chat with them, absorbs their language (and dialect hopefully) so that someday I can sound a bit similar with them.

A positive thing about language difficulty is that I can tell someone over the phone (the telemarketers obviously) that I don’t speak English very well – and therefore they will hang up immediately hahaha
